Deep in the Harenna Forest, in the heart of Ethiopia’s Bale Mountains National Park, this rare wild coffee grows—untouched, pristine, and in perfect harmony with nature. The wild beans thrive in the shade of ancient rainforest trees and are hand-picked by local farming families and sun-dried. The result: a naturally pure flavor with notes of red berries and dark chocolate.

Through the Sip for Seed initiative, 1 Franken per package goes toward the cultivation of climate-resilient macadamia trees and supports the local community.

Flavor Profile

Bale Mountains Wild Coffee delights with its clear, pure aroma and balanced fruitiness. The wild Arabica beans—hand-picked in the Harenna rainforest and naturally sun-dried—bring an authentic, unadulterated flavor profile to the cup.

  • Port wine – sweet and long-lasting
  • Dark chocolate – rich and warm notes
  • Red berries – complex, well-balanced fruitiness
  • mild acidity – easy to digest and gentle on the stomach

Preparation Recommendations

Bale Mountains Espresso Roast reaches its full potential with precise extraction. Recommended for:

Portafilter / Espresso Machine

Grind size: fine (level 3 on a 10-point scale) | Dosage: 9–10 g for a single shot, 16–18 g for a double shot | Extraction time: 25–30 seconds | Water volume: 35 ml for espresso | Brewing temperature: 91°C.

Its full-bodied flavor and chocolate notes come through best when prepared as a classic espresso. It’s also perfect as a base for cappuccino or latte macchiato. Tip: To make an Americano, top off an espresso (single or double shot) with 60–100 ml of hot water.

Fully automatic machine

Grind size: fine (level 3 on a scale of 10) | Amount: 8–10 g, depending on desired strength | Water: 35–40 ml for espresso, 100–110 ml for coffee.

Mocha Pot

Grind: Medium-fine (level 4 on a scale of 10) | Dosage: Loosely fill the filter basket; do not pack it down. Bale Mountains Espresso produces a well-balanced coffee with a distinct flavor profile. Tip: We recommend pouring boiling water into the moka pot and removing it from the heat as soon as the coffee begins to rise.

Storage instructions: Store in a cool, dry place away from light. After opening, reseal tightly (e.g., with a clip) and use within 4–6 weeks to preserve the full flavor.
