We love coffee, and we love people. With Kaffa, we launched a coffee that not only tastes wonderful but also provides a livelihood and takes social responsibility seriously.
Hand-harvested, a gift from the forest
In the last remaining mountain rainforests of Ethiopia’s Kaffa Province—the ancestral home of Coffea arabica—local farmers hand-pick the wild coffee berries. Not a single tree is cut down, not a single cutting is planted, no irrigation is installed, and no fertilizers or pesticides are used. The farmers gather what the forest is willing to provide. And they harvest beans with a sweetness that no plantation coffee could ever match.
Careful teamwork
In complete harmony with nature, more than 8,000 farming families earn their livelihood from Kaffa. They cherish this natural treasure with awe and respect.
This attention to detail is also evident in our roasting and distribution process. With love and passion, Michal roasts the wild beans, which naturally come in different sizes and shapes—quite unlike those from plantations. His intuition and expertise are essential, as are the dedication of the distribution team and Maria’s long-standing, passionate commitment. Since the beginning in 2004, she has poured her heart and soul into this project out of a deep sense of conviction.

Bea
Our numbers wizard. Since April 2012, she has been keeping track of accounting, payroll, and insurance.
Damaris
Our sales representative. She has been building sales relationships in German-speaking Switzerland since August 2024.
Frédéric
Our right-hand man in French-speaking Switzerland. Since July 2019, he has been serving our French-speaking customers in French-speaking Switzerland.
Kahsay
Our warehouse and shipping manager. Since 2016, he has been packaging every one of our coffee beans, stacking every box, and packing every package.
Luana
Our intern, the queen of social media, has a perfect command of both images and text, and is always connected with our community.
Maria
Our heart and soul. Thanks to her, Kaffa is distributed in Switzerland. She has been fully committed to the cause from the very beginning and visits Kaffa regularly.
Michal
Our Head Roaster. Since 2019, his keen intuition has ensured that our coffee production and roasting processes meet our high quality standards.
Reto
Our back-office angel. Since 2021, he’s been juggling our production planning, purchasing, inventory, and all orders, and he’s always happy to assist our customers over the phone.
Amy
Our office dog keeps watch over the sofa and actively helps maintain our work-life balance!
